Series 4, administrative files (1956-1974), includes correspondence, newsletters, and membership lists. Series 5, annual reports and related materials (1955-1974), includes plans and correspondence for conferences, programs, and attendence lists. Series 6, treasurer's reports and related financial correspondence (1956-1974), includes yearly financial reports.

The Michigan Natural Resources Council was a non-profit, non-private service organiaztion. The Council's goal was sound management of Michigan natural resources. The first Natural Resources Conference was held in 1955. Later that year it was decided that a permanent organization consisting of many organizations concerned with natural resources be established.
